Île de France , Paris included: The tiger mosquito progresses
The tiger mosquito or aedes albopictus is gaining ground in Ile-de-France. Six departments in the Paris region are now concerned by red vigilance with the tiger mosquito. Last year, only two departments were in red alert (Hauts-de-Seine and Val-de-Marne).
This year, Paris, Essonne, Seine-et-Marne and Seine-Saint-Denis will be added. This red alertness means that the tiger mosquito is officially implanted and active in the relevant departments.
Aedes albopictus, is a tropical mosquito from Asia.
The authorities are monitoring the establishment of this mosquito in metropolitan France because of its ability to transmit tropical diseases (dengue, zika., Chikugunya ...) after stinging sick people.
